Went down to Seattle last weekend, the first long trip with the B. It has a bit of a shake at some speeds, and the front end is floating somewhat which I guess means the shocks need to be rebuilt or replaced. Seattle streets are really terrible in places, I developed a hole in the top of the exhaust right below my seat on Saturday, on Sunday morning I limped to an auto parts store and got some exhaust bandage (and an extra one for my growing emergency kit) which held together well and got me home. It was raining bloody hard on the way home which made the trip very stressful, I was hydroplaning on and off the whole way back. The sun did show itself a few times over the weekend, Kim and I got to go topless for a while anyway. I got some parts, a grease gun and a remote starter switch, so now I just need some jack stands and I can do a proper greasing and a compression test too. The PO says he greased it regularily and changed the oil every 3000 miles but who knows.. besides, I just wrapped it to 170,000 mi so it seems like an ideal time to do my first servicing.
