Don't have a heck of a lot of cash lately so I've been working on the small things... bought an inline fuse holder and hooked that up to the radio (power was disconnected for some reason), reseated the speaker wires and now I have a working "BMC" AM radio woohoo. I used my multimeter to make sure there wasn't any current drain when the radio was off (can't hurt to make sure). Around the bonnet pull there are a lot of strange splices, electricians tape, duct tape and cut wires on the loom. I removed the funny 70s radar detector from that area and took apart the indicator stalk to see why the dash lights for left/right weren't flashing. Well after doing some resistance tests I determined there was a broken wire between the stalk and the lamp. For some reason the light green with blue stripe wire had been cut so I very carefully stripped and spliced them together again. I've been using heat shrink tubing and a lighter to make my splices really professional. So now all my dash lights work! Pretty proud of myself. Working under the dash is fun, I spent a good couple hours with my head stuck down the footwell and my feet in the air. Did another wax job too its starting to pay off. I am going to order a 13 row oil cooler set from Moss very soon (the oil cooler was completely missing from the car when I bought it). Hopefully that will increase my oil pressure a bit, right now it gets as low as 20 lbs at idle after I've been driving for a couple of hours. I also checked the compression with the car still warm and the throttle full open. Results 148/143/145/148 not too bad. I want to do the suspension really soon but I don't have enough $$ yet for the "worst case" scenario where I have to replace or recondition most of everything, I want to do it right the first time. All I have to say is, its soooo much fun to drive now I cannot wait to see how nimble it will be with a fresh suspension and my new sway bar. I know I talk a lot about all the WORK I'm doing but believe me every time I drive somewhere I have a huge grin plastered on my face!
