There are a couple of options last time I checked. I bought an adapter from MX5Things, who make a variety of useful gizmos for our cars. I think others have had success with the roof remote control, but for some reason, my 2019 RF always threw a roof error after installation. Not immediately, but soon after install. Disconnecting the battery would reset things but it always came back. MX5Things were really good about support and even sent a second adapter, but with the same result
I got pretty good at contorting myself into the tiny space behind the seat to install the adapter module but it is a pain to get at and eventually I just gave up and removed it. No idea if the other RF roof control would work better as I decided I'd invested enough money at this point. I do find it odd Mazda has such a low speed restriction for operating the roof, and will not allow it to even close while driving slowly - rather it has the roof stick part-way until you stop. Almost as nutty as the no-touch touchscreen logic :-)
I have other MX5Things adapters that work - like one that allows the radio to stay on if the passenger opens their door after parking. It also has some odd behavior - like if I open the driver's door with the car running, it "forgets" it has a nav system, then remembers when I shut the door. So just be aware this stuff is experimental - or was when tried it out a few years back. Maybe there are better options now - I will be interested to hear
It would be great to live near a car customization shop that had more experience with fitting and setting up this stuff - but I don't. I'd love to upgrade to a fatter steering wheel (the stock wheel is a disappointment to me) but I am not removing a wheel with an airbag. Just not for me
