I've done it, doesn't seem to bother anything.

Subject: GTX motor uses oil pump gasket, '00 oil pump does
not..compatability?

I tried putting on my '00 oil pump onto my 1.8 GTX block. (The '00 oil pump
is in better shape)

I discovered that the GTX block, like the Miata 1.6 block, uses an oil pump
gasket. However, the '00 oil pump, like the '94 to '00 blocks, does not.
The '94-'00 oil pumps use an O-ring, the 1.6 does not.

Do you think it's safe for me to skip the gasket, and use an O-ring? The
gasket is 0.015" thick. I still have to check if the side effect of moving
the oil pan bolt holes in the oil pump aft by 0.015" will affect the
screwing in of the oil pan bolts.

TIA
Jason
