Factory ground.. thought of that as well and will probably (assuming I
rewire the pump) wire in a beefy ground back to the battery ground point
with a 10/8 whatever huge I have laying around. ;)

What I find more disturbing is the 1.3-1.5 volts lost between the battery
and the pump.. all that is new wiring by Ken, don't believe any of it was
underwater.. so why the huge loss of a 10AWG that is 3.5' long? Checked it
at the relay and it had maybe a .3 loss, would have to retest tonight to
verify but it all adds up. Still, it shouldn't be that much.

Never buy a car that's been underwater.. stoopid stoopid stoooooopid! ;)

How is the pump grounded and what is the condition of that connection?

I would have thought that 10AWG would be enough; it's enough for my 5hp IR
compressor (single phase 220v...)

I probably would have gotten a new pump before going through all that
stuff, but that's just me ;)

Well, I doubt the factory ground is 10 gauge... I'd start there as the
current has to flow through the entire circuit for the pump to work.

$0.02,
Robert (NOT an electrical guy!)

Ground would be worth checking and you might want to put a voltmeter on
both sides of any yellow butt connectors Ken used. We had some funny
ones in the shop for awhile.=20

Hmm.. I was measuring post-splice... in the connector. the splice is a
typical opaque yellow but looked like it might be a heat shrink built in
type.. I couldn't get the meter in it so I went to connector.

I'm going to try and find a spare connector out of the 97 wiring and splice
on some beefy power and ground wires and test it out, that should tell me
for sure. I hope that's all it is. Fuel pump replacement blows. :(
