I thought I'd post a short note about my experience Monday with my
Khumos. I've been running the Victoracers on the street since the last
autocross and have found that they are a much better street tire than the
BFG-R1s. Not only is the ride more compliant, but the at limit behavior is
better, the transitions are smoother, and the wet road performance is MUCH
better.

In fact, they saved my butt Monday! I was traveling from Boston to
Millbrook NY to pick up a shipment of Pinot ( an even worse habit than the
Miata ) when I decided to take NY Rt. 22 to Rt. 44 into Millbrook (definitely
worth the detour, a great road with no traffic!!!) As I turned off onto Rt.
22 the road started up a fairly steep grade and entered a series of connected
S curves. Most of the way the road had been posted at 55 mph so I was loafing
along at about 60-65. All of a sudden I found myself half way around a
decreasing radius uphill blind curve which I later saw was posted at 25!!
THANK GOD I had my autocross tires on! The back end started to move out a
bit, I slowly backed off the gas, caught the rear end and got it rotated just
in time for the next curve which was even slower......needles to say I had a
few "interesting" moments.

Take this as a hearty endorsement of running "race" tires on the
street.
