OK, I think I blew up on USAA too early. The adjuster actually seemed
to be on my side when we talked numbers. Here's approximately what he
came up with give or take $100. I left the actual numbers at home:

Keep in mind my bluebook value for a '90 with 150K miles is $4500.

Actual Car Value: $9400
State Tax: $470
My deductible: $500 (I think I get this back when they settle with the
other guys ins.)
Car buyback price: $1200

Check to me: $8170
I should get the $500 deductible back and this price includes me getting
my car back.

Sure I would've liked to get back another 4 grand (OK, 10K) or so, but
I'll get that back and more in the settlement.

I would mention the adjusters name, because he really went to bat for
me, but I don't want to get anybody in trouble.

Good to hear that you did so well. Is this the car that you have been working
on putting the new motor in the past few months or is that a totally
different car? Maybe I'm confusing powerlist members?

I'd say you did real well. USAA is the only insurance company that I would
actually say good things about.
