Hi Guys,
Just a short post to say thanks to Zandr & Neil Russell for the "Milewski/R=
ussell" track day on the 25th.
For me it started with a 7.5 hr drive down from Portland to Willows after b=
eing up for over 20 hours already. I had worked the night before, (graveya=
rd), and been stressing about UPS delivering brake parts which never did ar=
rive. At some point I let go and just went for it. Getting into Willows j=
ust after 11 p.m. and having 6 hours of sleep set me up for the Thursday tr=
ack event fine.
After the quick obligatory b'fast at Dennys and a little tire pressure incr=
ease at the Shell station, it was off to the track. Arriving around 7:50 a=
t the Race Park and emptying out the car allowed me to realize two things. =
One, this was really going to be a un-crowded event, and two, it was going=
to get HOT.
Zandr & Neil did a nice job of introduction and then let the TH guys give u=
s the safety talk and flag descriptions. After that we were on track for a=
few quick sighting laps and then the motorcycles had their turn. Then the=
rest of the day was 25 minutes sessions at the top of each hour for the ca=
rs and bottom of the hour for bikes. No crashes and non-stop fun until the=
lunch break.
Lunch was a very nice catered affair that left no one wanting for more. Th=
en back to lapping until we couldn't take it any more or the day ended. We=
really started to thin out after 2:30 when the heat was getting to folks, =
but there were bikes and cars to the very end of the day.
It was a great day for me and I was really able to improve my skills and ge=
t the direct feedback from Dennis and Peggy, (our instructors/racers), afte=
r each session. That made a huge difference in my improvement. After ever=
y session we had a debriefing and talked about what corners we were still h=
aving trouble with and how to improve, as well as the observed behavior, bo=
th positive and negative that the instructors had witnessed us doing.
Overall, this was one of the best events I've participated in. 3+ hours of=
seat time, over 140 miles of track driving for me and zero incidents to sl=
ow things up or cause problems. Again, Thanks Zandr & Neil for putting on =
a great track event!
For all that missed this, if they do it again, I highly recommend you jump =
at the chance to go.
Take care,
Eric

Thanks for the kind words, Eric!
I don't know when we'll do another one, but we will eventually. ;)
Dennis and Peggy Hale really rescued a couple of clueless Newbies
(Neil and I) and made the event great.
Thanks again,
Zandr
