Well this is the 3rd time trying to post. Can you not attach pics =
to miata power messages??? Well here it is and a link on the bottom to =
my photopoint page...

I am not going to be driving my car for the next few days at =
least now. I have a totally screwed up front left suspension.. This =
is my story... =20

I was driving this afternoon in the left lane of a pretty busy =
Highway, Veterans Blvd, for anyone who has been to the New Orleans area. =
I was in the left lane. A F-150 was coming around a U Turn and going =
to merge into my lane. Did I mention it was raining, and has been all =
day. When came into the U-Turn merge lane, he skipped the merge lane =
and pulled in front of me with less than 100 feet of space. I was doing =
about 45, and he was doing about 10. I got on the brakes, and kept on =
pumping them. In the wet they just kept locking up. It felt like an =
eternity. I had a car to the right of me and could not go that route. =
I went into the open merge lane, that he conveniently forgot to use, and =
passed him up, pretty fast. Now the end of the merge lane is coming up. =
I tried to squeeze in-between the ass hole, and the curb. No avail. I =
clocked the curb at about 30. The impact slowed me down so much that =
the truck that was next to me is not over a car length ahead of me. The =
car jumped and landed in the left lane. The front left wheel took most =
of the hit. The back left took a little, but it seems fine. The F150 =
slowed down, and then took off. A few seconds later I have flashing =
lights behind me. A cop runs to the car and asks if I am allright. He =
takes off after the truck, but comes back a few minutes later, he lost =
the truck in the time he got out to check on me. I wrote a report =
listing it as a hit and run, he saw all of it. He was about a 1/4 mile =
back. =20

I drove it about half a mile with the rim below, and a blown tire. =
It did not track straight for anything. It was raining like hell, and =
2 tow trucks would not touch it because it is so low. With the blown =
tire the "R" Chin spoiler was about 1" from the ground. I drove it to =
my work. Later that night when traffic died down, I had a friend bring =
a stock wheel to me and we put it on. While pulling the tire we took a =
look at the suspension. Tie Rod is bent, Sway bar endlink is bent, =
Lower A arm is bent, upper A Arm looks alright. I think the hub assy =
might be bad also. I am lucky, my friend has 2nds of all of these parts =
he is going to give me. I do have to buy a new rim and tire. The damn =
tire only has 300 miles on it. It kills me that I need a new one. =
There is a chunk knocked out of the sidewall. I will post pics of the =
suspension tomorrow when I pull it. I drove it home about 5 miles on =
the back streets at about 15mph. It was horrible. The front tires were =
squealing the whole way. My arms are sore from fighting to keep the car =
straight. The bad wheel is about 40 * off. So they were about 20* off =
each way to get it to go somewhat straight. Luckily since it rained the =
streets were wet, and the tires scrubbed easier in the wet... Sorry for =
the off topic post, but just another horror story....

Life is a bitch some times. This is just after I found out I am =
getting a set of 94+ Brake brackets for free. With good comes the bad..

=

Not any more. Zandr (the list admin) took away the functionality of certian
attachments a few weeks back to prevent the spread of viruses (virii?).

Ouch Danny, that REALLY sucks. Lucky that cop saw everything. Can you not get
your insurance to pay for the repairs since the cop saw the accident and will
testify as to it not being your fault?

The only problem witht that is that I only have liability. Remember this
was a 1600$ car when I got it. I just ordered the wheel and tire. They
were 171 shipped for both. that is the only cost to this. I am getting
the lower suspension for nothing, (just help with labor later on the car).
It worked out not to be that bad...
