Yo vatos locos,

I added dyno results for both of Cardell's turbo cars to the Cinco de
Mayo website.

His red '90 is the quintessential turbo car. It has been a turbo car
for as there have been turbo Miata's. It has had just about any part you
can think of bolted on it at one time or the other. This is the test
mule from hell!

rampages.onramp.net/~bookworm/rda90.html

The other car is the newest turbo car in the Dealer Alternative stable
-- Teri's turbo 1999.

rampages.onramp.net/~bookworm/rda99.html

This is a spectacular looking and running (and stopping) car.

Cardell and Corky put the back wheels of FM/BEGI cars on the line (or at
least on the dyno drum). They have participated in all three dyno days
and spot us altitude (the Dealer Alternative cars are tuned at altitude,
and we tune our cars at sea level) and run with the best. It is easy to
tune the FM cars, but trust me, vato, you can't tune a car in half a day
and run with Clifford or Clint, the uncrowned kings of the FM tuners.

I plotted the torque curves for both cars on the same graph.

rampages.onramp.net/~bookworm/interesting.html
(bottom of the page)

The '99 makes more torque than the '90 in the 3,250 to 4,000 rpm range,
and gives the mule a hell of a run everywhere else. I almost changed
the name of the page to "Damn Interesting!"

Amazing, the prototype '99 turbo car, running less boost (12 psig vs 15
psig for the mule -- or 11% less absolute pressure, 26.7 psia vs 29.7
psia) with a 12.5% larger motor (1.8 liter vs a 1.6), could run with a
car that has been worked and tweaked for years by the Turbo Miata Man
"heself."

How cool is the '99 car? Clifford drove the car at Miata '99 (I didn't
get a chance to drive the car, but I might go to the Dealer Alternative
Grand Opening just to see how this bad kitty runs), and he is talking
about a black on black '99 turbo car.

Next week Clifford's Spectacular Turbo Car.

Peace and grace,
Hemphill

P.S. Thank you Bill and Corky for your support and participation.
Without your participation there would never have been a Dyno Day II,
much less a Dyno Day III. Any after market supplier that will run his
stuff with the big dogs and buy soft drinks for everyone definitely wins
the Granny Hemphill "The BS Stops When The Dyno Talks Award." Thank you
again.

P.P.S. If you can think of a plot you would like to see on the
Interesting Page, drop me a line and we will see what we can do.

Me thinks you understate it...

There will always be a few super tuners that could put a turbo on a riding
mower & get 200 RWHP. Corky & Bill have created kits that even us doofus's
can install & run.

Without them there'd probably be no power list and a whole lot less smiles
in Miata country. We owe them a huge THANK YOU!

With all due respect, sir, you have it backwards. It is we that are
appreciative. W/o you lead foots, I'd still be calculating stresses in rotor
blades. High excitement, it was.
Corky

As Corky said, with no hard-core market, we wouldn't be around. We just work to
try to satisfy the need for speed ;-) Thanks!

Guten Tag, Herr Rolf,

It was said -- it has been done. Check out the bottom of this page
(autorotor and two turbos -- one with and one without a FM ECU). If
anyone has a file for an intercooled Sebring with an FM ECU, I'll
publish it if they will send it to me. I'm always looking for Sebring
results, I might start a separate page, and I'm definitely interested in
getting the data.

Interesting page rampages.onramp.net/~bookworm/interesting.html

I also added dyno-graphs for Clifford's car and Bruce Labitt's car.
Labitt's car is pretty cool and makes good power with the factory ECU.
Also very driveable and reliable -- he drove the car from Nashua, New
Hampshire. Basically the story of all the out of state, high boost,
forced induction cars at CdMDD III.

Clifford's page is located at
rampages.onramp.net/~bookworm/rcliff.html

Labitt's at rampages.onramp.net/~bookworm/dynosum.html

Rolf, you will always have a home in the Lone Star State.

Be cool and stay in touch,
The Doctor (aka Hemphill)
