Well, back before they were potato guns and we shot tennis balls, when soda
cans were still made of steel/tin, we started with lighter fluid and
graduated to calcium carbide/water.

Somewhere I have a picture of the bruise that resulted on my
aforementioned friend Braden's gut when the breech let go on his friend's
nitromethane unit. It was the size of a dinner plate, and green.

Don't try this at home, these are trained professionals.

Safety glasses must be worn!

This is NMC but since there are so many smart and
helpful people here...

I'm considering buying as a beater, a '94 Integra LS
4-door with 135k miles, bad paint, and an ABS problem,
for $1,800.

The ABS unit buzzes loudly for several seconds after
starting the engine. Then it stops and the ABS light
comes on. ABS doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Oh man, you guys are going to get me killed when I go out and try these new
fuels in the ol potato cannon (its pretty big....)

For the person that doesnt know what a potato gun was, some (at least
mine) has the power to kick your shoulder pretty hard upon firing. :-)

Old strut tubes and shop air. Way back.

Growing up in the Chicago inner city, carbide was difficult to find. Could
still tell the corner drugstore you need some potassium pomanganate (?) for
your mom and state you didn't know what she wanted it for!

How far do you think Elvis could fire two potatoes or tennis balls from
that FM dual exhaust?

Potasium Permanganate, maybe? I remember going to the pharmacy to buy
potassium nitrate (saltpeter) for homemade gunpowder. Our line was that we
were doing a science project making beef jerky (it's used for preserving
meat). It worked. Moved out West way too late, but then maybe that's why I'm
still alive. Blackpowder on the shelves of the stores in 10lb cans. The
stuff I could've done with that 25 years ago.....
