Greets,
Time for a timing belt swap on my 94 FMII, had a couple questions for those
who've done them:
1. Need to replace the tensioner and idler? Those are spendy parts!
2. What's the hot tip on the waterpump replacement? I know there have been
lots of comments on OEM vs. various aftermarket units, but I couldn't find
anything in the archives (go figure).
3. Been getting coolant smell in the cockpit, so I figure that while
everything else is apart I'll do the heater core/hoses also. I can't seem
to find an aftermarket core, although the Forum indicates that they're
available. Can anyone confirm that the 89-93 core fits in the 94-97?
Naturally I'll do the other belts, the rad hoses, CAS seal, cam seals,
crank seal, etc.. while I'm in there. Anything else I've forgotten?
Thanks!
Robert

While your coolant is out: thermostat and radiator cap unless they are
fresh, and all the small water hoses (in addition to the heater core hoses,
which you will probably have to cut off the core and won't be re-useable),
and especially water hoses for the turbo.
Tommy (Parts Dood) Grimes sends me a new tensioner spring with his TB
"kit".
Cam cover gasket would also be on my parts list., and new plugs and NGK
blue wires.

Any idea how hard it is to change the thermo on a 2000? I've got the
twincooler, so things might be a bit tight there. It seems to be working,
but it might not hurt to change. I just don't want it to be a 3 day
project. :-)
