After nailing a pothole and I now have yet another shock rod seal leak,
my third. Since I've got Shocktek revalved Bilsteins I can't get a
direct replacement and I'm thinking of the KYB AGX's. What do they use
for the upper mount & top spring perch when paired with the GC
coilovers? The pic on FM's site looks like an adapter for the spring
fits in the OEM mount/perch. I've got the OEM perches on a shelf and
special perches that came with my Shocktek coilover set-up. I'm hoping,
probably without reason, that the Shocktek perches will work with the
KYB AGX shocks. Anyone have any info they can share before I just order
the KYB AGX's and see what options I have when I open the box?
Thanks,
Jim

What size spring? What ride height do you intend to run? What is the shoc=
k body length?

I turned down the OEM bump stop to fit my 2.5 inch springs. Then I used th=
e OEM perch.

It's been a couple years so IIRC, here goes.
Springs are ERS, 2.5"
Running ride height of 11.5-12" fr./rear.
Shock body length is unknown right now.
The Shocktek shocks have a stepped rod that goes through a sleeve that is secured in a
spherical bearing between the rod shoulder and a top nut. I'm hoping I can machine an
adapter to use the KYB's with my existing spherical mounts.

There are rebuilders that modify/rebuild Bilstein shocks. There's one here
in San Diego. I'm sure others elswhere. Unless, you just want to change to
a different shock.

Shocktek used some custom bits in their shocks, so most rebuilders won't
touch them. In addition to that, thaey had chrome hardening issues that
led to many if not most of them blowing seals on a regular basis. I'd
move on to new shocks.
