OK this is just weird.
Before my recent "episode" of a cracked radiator (which I have sucessfully =
JBWelded) I have an interesting side-effect:
Info about my setup:
I have a cooling reroute similar to Jason C's. That is, my heater is now s=
ourced from the front of the head, and as such, one of my temp sensors has =
moved to the front of the engine (IIRC, it is the ECU temp, but it could be=
the gauge)
My Temp gauge has been "Wally-fied" so I no longer have the stock dead spot.
Before my incident last weekend, Generally speaking my gauge and Link displ=
ay would agree (or be real close)
Now, most of the time my gauge reads hotter than the Link does.
This is a new behavior since the "incident" last week.
When I cracked the radiator, I was out in BUFU, so I had to do the unthinka=
ble. I put Bar's Stopleak in so I could get home. It sealed up the leaks =
nicely.
Except for any of that stuff that is still plugging leaks, I have flushed a=
ll the stopleak out (not a chemical flush, but a couple drain/refills)
This is the only thing that I can think of.
I replaced the thermostat in case it got munged when the car got hot.
The car seems to be running fine and not too hot, but I found it kinda odd =
that this behavior starts after a radiator leak.
The car briefly got to 122C before I discovered it, but I immediately took =
steps to cool it down, and there are no signs of head warpage that I can de=
tect at this point, but admittedly, I have not done a compression check.
