I had fun at the SCCA Solo II Nationals last week. I gave the
turbo car a vacation and brought up the 96R to run in B Stock.
Among the ~235 pics I took there (~27 megs!), I got several pics
of Stan Whitney's D Prepared Miata. Visit
albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=869586 and click on 2000
Nationals Paddock. The car has a yellow and purple color scheme.
I also added some pics to my 94 Turbo Miata album. I found a
roll of film that shows the turbo car when it was clean and virginal
stock. Then I corrupted it. ;-)
Feel free to visit the other albums. Photopoint has made
several big changes recently. They changed their whole visual scheme
while I was working on it this AM. Also, they now store two sizes
for each pic. If you go to one of my newest pics, you'll first get
the 640 x nnn size. If you click on that pic, you'll get the
original full-size version which is usually 900 x nnn for my stuff.
I have some 1800 x nnnn pics too.
I'm monitoring site hits. Sock it to me! :-)

Good stuf Mike,
Next year wer'e coming back with better handling (more
stick) more power, and a fuel cell which does not
starve at less than 3/4 tank! No more excuses :)
Darn those last minute improvements (new fuel pump)!
My guess is the pickup screen may have fallen off,
will check it soon.

I was chasing the 7500+ rpm lean out, during which I
watched the fuel pressure drop 5psi on multiple dyno
runs. We all assumed bigger pump was needed, so I
swapped in an rx-7 version. Though I had the pick up
and mounting stabilized, but apparantly not, car
starved badly on left hand sweepers at my normal fuel
levels, I kept raising it until it stopped, which was
at 3/4 tank.
Same problem trying different TEC firing orders, still
hit a rich then lean scenario above 7500, with the
motor flattening out at 8000.
I think the combo of wonky injector firing order, low
fuel pressure, low pump voltage, 350cc eclipse
injectors, are all factors.
I will try some 450cc injectors soon, if that does not
affect it, then maybe it is valve float :(

Damn Stan! Aren't 450's good for something like 300 RWHP? By my
calculations, my 310cc injectors are good for about 170 RWHP with stock
fuel pressures. I guess idle really isn't much of a concern for your race
car though.
