FYI these 3 oil filters are interchangeable on my car without the intake

I use the Wix 51334 on my 99. Fits with the brace, no problem.
On the Protege 5, I use an oversized Wix (same specs as the 51344), which is the
51344. It will not fit with the brace, though.

I accidentally bought an RSX filter once (transposed the last two digits
from the Miata one), discovered that it fit and worked, and have been
using it ever since. I have a remote filter mount kit, though.

I use the Pure One PL14459 which is a Honda filter as well as the filter
used on most Mazda's before 1990. This I found because a Pure One wasn't
listed for a Miata. I checked the 323 (same block) and this was the filter
used. I targeted the Pure One because it was the filter that my research
indicated was the best I could get. I pay $4.99 each and my wife's Accord
uses the same filter. There is a good chance I wasn't the first to promote
the Pure One but there is a better chance I was. :^)

Tom;
I've used that particular filter on 1.6 and 1.8 Miatas and have found the
cold (if there is such a thing in FL) motor oil pressure seems to stay high
longer before dropping into a normal operating range. Have you seen that
too?

Hi Bob,
I don't have a time comparison between filters but yes I do notice the oil
pressure is high when cold. Since the oil pressure is taken after the filter
if you notice another filter has less oil pressure the filter would be
restrictive and the oil is bypassing at the pump before it gets into the oil
system.
This could be interpreted as good or bad. Another oil filter may have a more
restrictive media than the Pure One or the Pure One may have it's bypass
valve open longer. The Pure One does have the largest media surface area of
the common filters.

Hi Bob,
I don't have a time comparison between filters but yes I do notice the oil
pressure is high when cold.
