Hey all,

I'm considering getting an oil cooler (and just the cooler - not the remote filter, don't need it) whichmeans getting a sandwich adapter to fit between engine block and filter. What size of this should I get, what are the specifics of the oil filter threads and the diameter of the outer rim (or is that some kind of universal standard)?

What type of hose endings should I get, is Aeroquip socketless (with a small clamp around the end of the hose) sufficient not to blow off while under pressure (it says max pressure 250 psi but in reality - anyone have experience with these)?

TIA

Mike

Got mine from JCW. Used Aeroquip fittings and hose, didn't want to trust the
clamp on stuff.
May have to remove the intake bracket on a 1.8 to get room. 1.6 is OK but
needs to have the plate in just the right position to accommodate the
fittings. I removed the bracket.

This is exactly the one I was looking at (except I'm getting it from racerpartswholesale along with some other stuff), but was unsure of trusting the generalistic statement about "early imports". You never know, the miata *could* be an exception to the rule. Well anyway, thanks for the info.

You can use the original oem mazda filter with most sandwich adapters. Beware of tight space around the sandwich plate. I could not get a Mocal sandwich adapter to work, YMMV etc. So I've now added a remote filter mount and the sandwich adapter on top of that (I wanted the thermostat function without getting lots of new parts).
