I was lucky enough to get one of the first Triumph Scramblers in the area
and now I am in need of Insurance. The last bike I had was insured with my
car insurance company but since I switched car insurance companies to
Nationwide I will need a new Motorcycle insurance. Nationwide has some of
the worst rates for motorcycles so I though I would see what you all are
using. This list has never let me down on OT information so I though I
would throw this out there and see what the best options were.

I use Progressive. It is easily done online and their rates seem
competitive. I have a Triumph too. 2000 Sprint RS. They make nice products.

Just did an online quote with them and my Progressive premium is
significantly lower than their quote.

Interesting. I got collision included on my XR for *less* money than
Progressive wanted for PLPD and comp.

It may be how they classify my bike. Some companies class it as a Sport and
others as a Sport Touring.

USAA told me they couldn't insure my 888 duc years ago because it was a
"bullet bike". Then they asked if I had any special training. Told them
I was a licensed roadracer and they said "Oh, that's good. We can insure
you then" !!??=20

I've gotten different quotes from the same company by hanging up,
calling back, and calling the bike something different. A Katana was
expensive, and a gsx-f was cheap. Go figure.

I bet I could get killed as fast on my old 400 as you could on your duc.
You go first, I'll time it.

I'd check with State Farm. They don't give MC quotes on-line, so you'll
have to call an agent.

For full coverage (250 / 500, UM, Comp, Coll) on an '06 Ninja 650R, they
quoted me about $540 / yr., which was by far the least expensive figure,
including Progressive, Geico, etc. Nobody is quite sure why, but State
Farm seems to really enjoy writing MC policies. Other folks have given
props to Dairyland, but they're not avaliable in CA.

Very cool bike, by the way. I assume you went with Red, of course?
