I saw someone reference a comment Bernie made when asked about Danica
Patrick to the effect of "women should wear white...it matches the
appliances" or something like that. I haven't looked hard, but did not see
it anywhere else.

False quote? surely the internets wouldn't lie.

Okay, no more from me, I better not start about the whole USGP thing.

Eh, Just as well...Tony (George) already had a 3rd row seat :-)

Bernie would not allow any local (regional?) media through the Speedway
doors for the entire event. Most of his derogatory comments were that the
event was under-promoted locally, yet he wouldn’t let local media in.

Bernie has earned a 2nd row seat in my celebrity plane crash….. what a tool.

Yea but according to Bernie the race is under promoted and under attended.
I did hear one of the announcer say that it is the 2nd or 3rd best attended
race in the series but not according to Bernie.

There's one good side. How long has it been since an F1 race received this
much press in the US?

I donno. I simply cannot agree with either the FIA or the French-tire'd
teams. So far we've heard the following stories.

1) FIA says that they had a solution with their little speed monitor device
and the spoiled, unsporting Michelin teams wouldn't agree to that solution.
2) The 7 teams say that they were prepared to race for ZERO points! Yes,
they'd forego their ability to score points, they just wanted a safe track
(with a chicane) which the FIA wouldn't allow. Or the ability to change
tires, which the FIA wouldn't allow. Or something. Anything! Which the FIA
wouldn't allow.
3) Mr. George, the owner and meister of The Brickyard states that he was
NEVER ASKED!!!! to change the track or do anything at all. Other news
sources say the FIA & the track officials wouldn't let a chicane be
installed. Hard for Tony George to disallow this when he (reportedly) didn't
ever know about it.
4) Minardi's story is that they were all set to pull into the pit lane also,
but evil Jordan didn't, so they were forced to race. Darn.
5) Michael Jackson sleeps in the same bed with young boys for funsies, and
nothing bad happens.

The facts.
1) No side backed down.
2) Nothing was done to fix the situation.
3) The race sucked.

All the finger pointing in the world will not change the facts. And we will
get to watch the finest finger pointing in the world from the most wealthy
and powerful sources in motorsports. But they won't change the facts.

I personally can't agree with the Teams, the FIA, Michelin, Bernie, or the
California courts. And on a more small-scale note, I can't imagine ever
looking at Michelin seriously again. What poor tires. They robbed us of a
USGP. Maybe something could have been done to allow a race, but the tires
were still ultimately the point of failure.
