Wow, just called them and you MUST HAVE A GARAGE... after I told her I
didn't, she got very indignant. I live in an extreme suburb... most of us
don't lock anything, I removed the alarm from the car, and never lock the
doors. (No I won't tell you where I live)
It was worth a shot... but they just lost the business of 5 cars and 4
drivers.

They won't insure anything that's not in their definition of a Classic,
either. So if you were hoping to insure, say, a 1987 Subaru or a 1967 Land
Rover - you're SOL anyhow.

:) Just some more update for those that are commenting and I promise no
more insurance posts....
1. Yes, it's for classic cars that fit Travelers Insurance Co's definition.
MOC does not get a vote.
2. I researched several "classic" insurance agencies when I was looking to
insure my 69 Jag...all required kept in a garage, some a locked garage. I
got them to buy off on in a locked and enclosed trailer. Thtat's with
American Collectors.
3. As well as the Classic insurance, the Leadership Council has been after
MOC/Mazda to also come up with some discounted "regular" insurance as well.
Even if they do, guaranteed one size will not fit all and there will be
bitching as there has been about this clarification. Best thing to do is
to check a lot of places but hopefully MOC will find a decent alternative
that can help out some.
Last.. promise. Happy Holidays to all. 84 degrees and changing a cam
cover seal :)

How about the Canadian Members.. I paid my money, but don't get the insurance and some other things.. One of the main reasons I joined was because of the insurance, as I own 3 cars/trucks and have access to another 3 at home, so getting cheap insurance on a car driven 1-2 times a week would be nice..
Thanks, Marc

How about the Canadian Members.. I paid my money, but don't get the insurance and some other things.. One of the main reasons I joined was because of the insurance, as I own 3 cars/trucks and have access to another 3 at home, so getting cheap insurance on a car driven 1-2 times a week would be nice..
Thanks, Marc

They also won't insure your Miata if your second car isn't newer than your
Miata. I have a 92 Previa and the woman gave me crap about having to own a
newer car. My car is registered at my parents address, so luckily one of
their cars is a 2001. Otherwise, I would have been out of luck.

Forgive me. I must have missed the original post.
I have been reading over the last few days about the "short comings" of this
insurance company. What is the reason you would bend over backwards to use
this company t insure you Miata. I have Erie insurance and 4 cars. I only
insure my 1990 Miata (almost perfect shape and extra work done to it) for
the months I drive it.
For example... from Nov.-May it is stored under a car cover in my garage so
I only pay for the remaining 6 months. This give me a decent (not a great)
discount on the insurance for the Miata alone. I also do the same thing to a
heavily modified 1192 Mitsubishi Galant VR4. I have $xx,xxx.xx of dollars
and 7 years invested in. paint, cage, 450 hp, suspension etc. you name it,
it has it.
Should I consider a different insurance company, to cover these 2 car, then
the company I use to insure my 01 Ford Sport Trac and my wifes 01Jetta 1.8t
Sorry if this is a rehash of the subject,
Harry Blanchard

Bob -
I appreciate you informing us of the new deal, its not your fault that
they suck ;-)
I was just in an accident with somebody that was insured by travelers (I
hear they are backing MOC/Sneed)... it took them two months to fix the car
(first month was getting them to take responsibility for the accident even
though I had a police report)
They also had me jump through all kinds of hoops to get the right parts
for the car (97M, wanted stocker parts, difference of about $800) and then
since I spent all that time waiting for parts, they wanted to stiff me on
the rental. After all is said and done, I'm still $0.11 short and its just
not worth my time to go and get it.
I do not recommend Travelers at all.
- Steve
