Could anybody tell me the exact definition of the .map files Miata
Link Lab uses?
I'm trying to use a text editor to type up some old hand-written maps
to compare to my current data-logged ones.
Theres a text name and date on the first row,
two blank lines, then the first row of data all evenly spaced,
an empty row, next row of data,
empty row, fuel table, all evenly spaced,
empty row, fuel table,
empty row, then last row. (N/A maps)
I've got it so it looks the same as a data-logged one in the text
editor, but MLL rejects it, says "Can't do anything with that file,
I'm afraid!" ( nice friendly error message :-)
So, is it tab de-limited, or are there special charaters I cant see
that I need to replicate?
Thanks,
Fletch.

I think you're seeing the string variables in a binary data file. If you
have a hex editor or binary conversion app then use those to make it
human-readable.
The binary data is smaller and we get more frequent datapoints with it.

Hi Fletch,
Your description of the lines sounds right, but I bet you've missed the fact
that the first character on each line is a space...don't ask why, it was
just easier that way...

Well, my first attempt missed that fact, but I realised on my second
try... still no go.
I have successfully up-loaded hand-modified map files to the Link. I
may see if I can do that with the ones I wrote.... Never thought I'd
use my Link computer to parse files for my PC... :-)
Thanks,
Fletch.
P.S. Ralph, you were thinking of the actual data-logs. I'm talking
about the separately generated .map file.
