I think the power list is down, so reverting to back-up mode...

Sleepy was towed to the body shop Wednesday. Looks pretty bad to me. The =
back end is pretty much accordioned up to the gas filler. I couldn't see un=
der the car very well as there were body parts hanging all over the back en=
d. I did pop the hood and all looks intact, except, it appears the motor is=
sitting about 1 inch high and 1 inch forward.

I presumed the car would be totaled, but the shop told me today that they=
think it can be repaired. Here is my question for the collective wisdom: W=
hat about mechanical damage? Would a 40mph hit on the back end of a station=
ary Miata jamb the diff, which jambs the DS, which jambs the tranny, which =
pushes the motor an inch forward? Would it likely cause what kind and how m=
uch mechanical damage? If the PPF is NOT bent, then I would presume that da=
mage to the diff, DS, and tranny would be minimized. If the bell housing is=
not broken, then I'd think the motor is OK. However, if the PPF is bent, s=
hould I be real concerned?
