Hi all,
I am kinda toying with the idea of purchasing a Link ECU for use on my
Greddy turboed '91 to better manage fuel and timing (the AFPR setup works
fine, but I would like much more control of what's going on...maybe a ways
off yet, but kinda like to do some research now). I have a question
regarding injector use with the ECU. I currently have 1.8 sized injectors
on my 1.6. I notice that most folks fun 440 injectors. My question is
this: will I NEED to get larger injectors if I decide to go with the Link if
I stay around 10 PSI? Are there any cheaper alternatives that would work
well with the Link rather than the expensice RCs? Thanks for any info you
can provide...

Nathan,
You will need larger injectors, as you will no longer be "fooling" little
injectors into thinking they're big enough with high pressure. And no, you
don't want to leave the fpr on with the link to avoid buying the injectors.
Others may have lines on cheap alternative injectors, some of the Mitsu
stuff works, I believe.

Hi,
Not to sound too harsh, but you are considering buying a $1250
computer and you want to scrimp on the fuel system??? No offense but you
will find this counter productive. The secret to a good power producing
motor is to carefully match the components as best you can. While you can
use the cheaper Mitsu parts you should still have them balanced to each
other and professionally cleaned.
You will be disappointed if you try to tune around the ECU with the
FPR.
There are 4 good reasons to go with the ECU.
1. It gets rid of the MAF sensor and allows you to rework the intake tract
dramatically.
2. You CAN (and should) run larger injectors.
3. It is less cumbersome and offers more precise tuning than other methods
of trickery (AFPR's, Piggybacks, and bandaid systems.) It self tunes too!
4. Adjustable boost control.

Thanks Bill. I don't plan on leaving the AFPR on there, but would it be ok
to leave the Pierburg pump inline or would I look at getting a walbro intank
replacement?

Thanks Mark...points taken. I was not intending to scrimp on the system, I
was just looking to find out whether the 440s were pretty much the bottom
line. I think I will go ahead and get the 440s when I end up purchasing the
ECU. Thanks for the info.

Nathan,
FYI, I just took out my Pierburg last night. I heard that it was OK to
leave it on the car, so I did for 3 months. Finally, I decided to take it
out since the noise of it got on my nerve. Surprisingly, the car run
smoother without it. I am not sure if it was because my Pierburg was
defected, but the car runs much better now.
