(my apologies if this goes out twice -- I sent it to the old list
address by mistake and it hasn't come back yet. I dunno if the old
address still works or not, so I'm resending to the new one).

I'm trying to build a harness to run my FM2 aux injectors with my new
Hydra computer (using a staged injector setup with the stock ones), and
I'm having trouble getting reliable connections when I need to join more
than 2 wires. Lacking any sort of special crimp connector for three-wire
connections, I've been trying to use the next-size-up butt-splice crimper
and just shove two wires in one end. That doesn't seem to work very
well -- it crimps, but doesn't have a very strong hold. A moderate
"tug test" pulls them apart with much less effort than is required
with just a single wire going into the same connector. Yes, I've got
a ratchet-type crimp tool with the right die for these connectors.

Since this is an injector harness, I really want it to be reliable.
Can you get three-way crimp connectors? I don't think I've ever seen
them at the store. Any other opinions?

Ian, these are stranded wires, correct? If so, un-twist the wire ends so the
wire filaments are straight. Then twist the strands of two wires together so
you actually have one individual wire "end". That should work in your
butt-splice crimp connector.

Honestly? For the best reliability out there you want to solder the
wires together. They will /never/ come apart then, and the connection
is never going to corrode.

But that's just my $0.02...

You can get 3-way butt connectors at any NAPA... But the best way is
just to tap into the wire with a Scotchlok.=20=20=20

They're the best thing since sliced bread. I use them more than butt
connectors and ring terminals combined.

I've not had good experiences with the reliability of the scotchlock
connectors for my gauges -- I don't think I'd want to use them on
injectors.

FWIW, I managed to get solid crimp connections using the
two-in-one-end method with the butt-splice connectors by judicious
choice of wire size, careful twisting, and crimping tighter.

Thanks for the pointer to the three-way butt connectors though, I'll
have to go pick some of those up for next time.

We haven't done Muslim/Christian yet... at least since I have been here
(and no, don't need to for my benefit, thanks!) My last one was... Big
Brother/Freedom, so add that one too :)

And Link/Tec/Hydra now :)
