Hi All,
Well bad news. I was on my way home from school tonight to polish out the
body panel I sprayed this week in preparation for carrying the senior class
prince and princess for this week's homecoming parade. I wasn't horsing
around, just went to full boost for a few secs from 55-75 and hmmm there's
an odd smell...must be the truck up in the slow lane. Nope, it's me blowing
smoke down the freeway.
I lift the hood to find the dipstick is blown out and the smoke is from the
oil all over the turbo. Good news! Probably a bad PCV valve right?
(Denying to myself that I could hear a distinct tapping that wasn't there
before). To make a long story short Harry and I ran a compression test
after noticing the number one spark plug was blacker than the others.
Cylinder 4 - 180
Cylinder 3 - 175
Cylinder 2 - 165
Cylinder 1 - 80!
So a bit of oil in 1 and I get 145....looks like I get to redo my bottom
end.....
I call Bill C. and talk it over and he gives me the hard sell on Wisecos.
Just kidding! All he said was 9.0 to 1 and I'm chomping to put them in.
Tami says they won't get any more till the end of October, so I'm hoping
like heck somebody on the list has a set that is sitting around for a
"future job". I'd replace them with the late October delivery set....
anyone,...anyone... Bueller?
Any info or donations (;-P) appreciated!

Depending on how much power you want to produce it would be prudent to
consider 8:1 if you want to run massive amounts of boost. You might as well
go with a 1 or 2 mm overbore (probably 1 to be safe.)
