Is there any significance to the numbering/lettering of this turbo? Sort of
like BMW 325 stands for 3 series with a 2.5 liter motor.

I figured there probably wasn't but I was just curious.

I believe (but I've been wrong many times in the past) that it is the Garret
T-25 compressor housing and wheel with the Garret T-28 exhaust housing and
wheel. It's referred to as a "hybrid" turbo because it uses components from
two (or more) turbos to make a single unit. Of course there are varying
wheels and housing ratios within each family that all have different
characteristics...

They are T28 turbos; T25 turbine + T3 compressor = T28. An AFAIK the
numbering system is just relative, not indicative of anything in particular.

To set the record straight...
There are three turbos used by FM:
The 'standard' SBT (sleeve bearing turbo) Garrett T28.

What is the Garrett "number" of the optional SBBT (small ball bearing turbo)?
(Also a T28, IIRC)

What is the Garrett "number" of the optional BBBT (big ball bearing turbo)?

And what is the size of the above in comparison to T3/T4 series?

Thanks,
Jim in Tucson
