I must admit that I'm one of those really anal retentive types, and
consequently I've been judiciously tracking Sleepy's fuel mileage for the past
98,000+ miles. So, I thought I'd through out the following:

1. On my recent trip from Tucson to Grand Junction and return, I averaged 26
miles per gallon. I'd guess average speed was around 75 mph - lots of
two-lane.

2. Best fuel mileage was a section of the trip predominantly on freeway with
no start-stop and minimal on-boost, which was 41.2 mpg. (I was not believing
this at first. I was sure I must have written down the odo wrong. But I
checked the station to station with Mapquest, and my numbers are spot on.)

3. Gas mileage whilst zipping around the FM Open house .9 mile short-track
with 15 corners was 11.25 mpg. I'm expecting a letter of reprimand from the
Sierra Club any day now.

4. Best price per gallon was, oddly enough, in Moab, Ut. - $2.74 / gallon
for 91 octane.

FWIW, YMMV,
Jim in Tucson
