so I got the heim end links and after putting the front jackson sway level,
the end link has to be shortened to its shortest possible length. That's
almost an inch shorter than stock but that's level.
does that sound correct or should I go with the stock length preload of bar
angled upwards?
thanks!

Hi Bob,
I made my own Heim-joint end links. When I installed them I was most
interested that nothing interfered and there would be no binding. I made my
wife (the ever suffering Loretta) sit in the drivers seat with some weights
on her lap and I went under the car to get the links adjusted and aligned.
After I was finally done and satisfied, I noticed she had put the weights on
the passengers seat, nullifing the perfect balance I was trying to acheive.
It doesn't seem to matter. I've been under it again with a real car guy in
the drivers seat and the links are loose, no bind, no preload.
To answer your question: I believe my home made jobs don't have much
distance between the joints either. I just crawled under the car to measure
the joint at 4 1/4 inch center to center. This is with stock springs. My JR
sways are ~level. I think if you've lowered the car, shorten the joint.
