If it can't be welded on the car, just jack the car about 1 1/2 feet in the
air. Remove the 5 nuts on the top of the downpipe only after you soak them
in pen. oil. Then remove the 2 nuts under the car holding the downpipe to
the cat. Ditto on the pen. oil. Soak the o2 sensor also. After its all
done, you should be able to slide the cat back and get the downpipe out of
the cat studs. After that, just pull out the downpipe from the bottom of the
car. Height is important and more doesnt hurt.

Thanks Raj,
My only problem spots are the two nuts tightly accessed on the bottom part of the flange to the turbo...can't seem to get a wrench in there. But I'll try raising the car as high as possible and try to get to them from underneath.
Also, I didn't realize it was an option to weld it while still on the car. Is there any potential for debris getting in the turbo or the inside being "messy" afterwards?

Try taking the drivers side wheel off and reaching through the fender well.

Jay,
I did this ($20 fix the morning I left for Deal's this year) and it has
been fine ever since.. It's pretty ugly as far as weld jobs go, but the
guys got the cracks sealed and it is holding.
I hit my local Tuffy guys and paid them Cashola..
