I just bought a used clutch for my car, and now I'm
not sure if it's a fake. It doesn't have ACT or a
model number or anything on it and I'm getting
suspicious. Actually from the FM page it looks like
there is an obvious ACT logo on the pressure plate.
Do the older ones not have this? This is what I get
for cheaping out I guess.

ACT pressure plates have the model number stamped into them. IIRC it's on
the pressure plate fingers.

Thanks. I'll have to check the fingers again when I
get home. I'm even more confident now that the part
is a fake because the friction disk doesn't have the
spings in it as the ACT disk does.

ACT does start with a daiken or exedy disc and plate. A 1.8 organic disc
will have round rubbers bumpers rather than springs, as it's an RX7
disc.=20

Sorry for the attachment, I tried to make it as small as I could.
Thought I'd see if anyone can recognize what this friction disc is. I
can't find any name on the fingers, only 4k27 on one and 894000 on
another.=20
Both on the flywheel side of the PP. The guy I bought it from now
insists that its a Daikin (Exedy), and that's what ACT OEMs thier stuff,
so I'm pretty sure he's full of crap. He told me it was an ACT when I
bought it. I feel so ripped off, I'd much rather have my wallet stolen.

This was supposed to be a heavy duty, though he did
claim 307 ft/lbs, I didn't need the extreme anyway.
The friction disk is solid, no springs or rubber
bumpers on it, so I'm not sure what it is. Thank you
for your help.

I don't believe ACT makes a full circle disk with no sprung hub. And you
don't want a non-sprung hub unless you want to follow in Wally's velcro
mounted tranny footsteps.=20

ACT 4 puck and 6 puck discs do not have sprung hubs, only the street discs
do. I recently sold an ACT clutch on Ebay that sounds like what you are
talking about, it was for an RX-7. It was unpainted (because ACT took it
off the line for me unpainted and it had a solid 4 puck disk.) You would
never know it was an ACT except for the model number stamped into the
fingers.
I had a very close relationship with the guys at ACT. They were 2
buildings down from my office in Lancaster. If you need any additional
help in identifying it, I'll be glad to help.
