I would recommend watching on eBay for an Itronix XC6250 Pro. I picked up a
couple of them for between $120 and $150. Make sure you get at least the Pro
with P266 64M and a 3Gig HDD. You can get a memory upgrade to 128M too after
a BIOS update. Most of them have Win95 but you can run Win98SE on them. Some
of them even have touch screens.

The nice thing about the Itronix is that they are Mil-Spec computers with
shock mounted HDD, magnesium cases, and rubber bumpers. They do not have a
fan to suck in dirt and are made to work in the field. They are not feather
weights, but you only have to carry it back and forth to the house.

I was going to suggest to FM using one in Trackdog. You could bolt the
rather clunky vehicle mount in the trunk for balance, then just pop it in
and out.

I cannot help you with the air temp but I can with the computer.
Check Ebay for a Toshiba Libretto. I use a 70CT and it is the perfect size
and price for what you are looking for. One of the large (search ebay and
you will see) locking stations sits in my computer room and one of the small
ones sits in my car. I bought an extra battery (about $30 I think) to carry
with me because I did not want to get 20 miles from home and get in the
middle of some testing just to find my battery dead.

When I had my link, it had an air temp sensor that was like a tiny
circuit board. I'd like to make or buy some of those as I experiment with
intake air temps. In fact, I have a Summit racing digital engine temp guage
that I added a two way switch and it also tells me diff temp. As I'm sure
the heavy brass sendors would not react fast enough to measure air temps, it
would be real nice is I could make a signal from the air temp sensor like
the Link one and have it read on that gauge.

I'd like to read 3 places, at the air bfilter, after the blower, and
after a saab intercooler I am adding to the SC bypass circuit which flows
air up to zero manifold vacuum, at which time it closes.

Since heat soak is a big issue with this KB blower, I added a bypass
which is supposed to cool the blower by peventing it from working hard when
it's boost not needed. The plumbing is 1.25" copper water pipe, which will
be easy to plumb out front (with a short rubber isolator section) and I
bought a saab aluminum i/c for this purpose.

Eventually, I hope to engineer the worlds first big KB air/air i/c
(someone already did a air/water setup which can be seen in the thread) but
this will have to do for now because of funds...

soooooo.. in the meantime it would be cool to test the "cool it when
its not working hard and create cool soak" theory...

any suggestions on measuring those temps?

I sure wish I had a decent computer in this car! Datalogging would
be very helpful...
