Just did my first few datalogs and used MLL. I got some knocks on the first
run. CSR suggested a few changes and I made another quick run. The datalogs
are on the Linklabexhange.

My second run was a bit better. No knocks yet. Any suggestions on what to do
next? Where to add timing and fuel?

Still fighting boost control though. Gave up for a while. What does
everyone suggest that the mechanical setting of the WG be set to?

Any quick boost control tips?

Thanks for the help. I am quite new with the Link tuning.

M. Beaver

The wg pushrod should be tight ... at least 15 lbs of static tension on =
it to prevent the wg flapper valve from simply being blown open by =
backpressure. If that does not produce at least half of your target =
boost, you can/should make it even tighter as long as there is enough =
pushrod travel left to open the flapper valve at least 30 degrees.

In addition to Ray's suggestion - I have seen problems with too low of a
mechanical setting recently.

When I put my car back together I replaced the larger, high pressure
actuator with a lower one (to give the boost controller more room to
control.) At first I had mechanical boost set at 142kPa and was having a
devil of a time trying to figure out why I couldn't make boost. After
checking the wiring for the boost solenoid and several other things, I
tried tightening up the actuator arm - bam - right back into boost. I
took it from 142 to 158 and instantly saw the boost controller spring
into action. Apparently at 142 it was too loose and pressure was blowing
the wastegate open - negating any type of mechanical or electronic
control.

After that, I was able to get to 185kPa with no problem - but on my
datalogs I saw my wastegate duty cycle at 97%... not good. so, I
tightened the actuator again and I think I'm in good shape now with a
mechanical setting of 165kPa. However, I haven't fully sorted it yet, so
when the weather clears I'll do some more testing and report.

Todd
