After reading this thread for a while, I began to wonder why
the Aerodyne doesn't have one. Any thoughts?
Also, is there any direct way to control the boost on the older
Aerodyne systems?

The newer Aerocharger kits, marketed by PBC, are equipped with the
ubiquitous Mitsu BOV, but vented back into the compressor rather than
atmosphere ( the MAF-based stock-ECU'd system would not tolerate the
resulting loss of calculated air flow otherwise ).

In a mechanical way, Aerochargers can be adjusted via the screw on the
top of the actuator body. Slight adjustments regulate the onset of boost,
whether fast and early or late and smooth. Further increases of max boost
can be achieved by opening the actuator body and replacing the spring/adding
shims. Using the latter method, I was able to gradually increase the boost
of my Aerodyne from 6psi, to 10psi, and then to 12psi as I upgraded my
system. The earlier method can be used at an AutoX event to effectively
lower boost for the temporay duration of the event itself. Of course, the
older systems require the turbo to be removed, as the actuator points down,
but it is a relatively painless procedure and the oil can be changed at the
same time if desired for an additional incentive. ;^)
Electronically, the FM ECU Mk. II can be used to regulate boost.
HOWEVER, a smaller, faster solenoid should be utilized, rather than the one
listed for sale with this ECU. Ray Ayala has successfully used a stock EGR
( 1.8L only ) solenoid for this purpose.
Of course, please ensure the boost sensing-line is connected BEFORE the
throttle body, preferably after the I/C ( if so equipped ) to prevent the
Aerocharger from over-boosting under any circumstance.
