I am playing with the idea of mass producing these for the Miata, but
first I would like some feedback.

PS - I don't even know if anyone would want them.

Looks much bigger, and I expect it would be better than trying to overbore
the current one.
But it really boils down to what the benefits are vs. the cost...

What's the advantage of this throttle body over the one
I already have???
Ignorant and curious,

If I had 20 sold I could get them down to about $295.00
Otherwise they are $395.00

Well the one you have now is fine until you try and move lots of air
through it, then it becomes a restrictor. I suspect only serious power
junkies will want it... Rick, Danny... ;)

They look nice.....but why would you want one? There are a number of
aftermarket pieces that can be used if you want a bigger TB. I'm not sure
that the stock piece is even a restriction for FI at less than 300 rwhp or so.

Of course, if the intercooler piping is the same diameter as the
existing throttle body, then you're just moving the restriction
elsewhere.
I know 5.0 Mustang guys regularly go with bigger throttle bodies, but
it doesn't add much unless they do the whole package, intake manifold,
throttle body, MAF sensor, etc.

Well because they look cool and because they allow you to still use the
stock Idle air control and TPS sensor. :) Plus they will flow a lot more
than a 55mm, shiv claimed to pick up power going to the larger TB.

You are absolutely right, The Mustang guys get good gains though just by
increasing the MAF and the TB size though, it is nearly the first thing
they all do.

Hi Gibb,
The throttle body is more of a restriction with a SC engine than turbo. The
restriction of the stock throttle body goes up the square of the speed
increase through the TB. Double the air with a SC and the restriction
quadruples. The same increase of air in a turbo doesn't increase the air
flow past the TB. The air is denser but the same speed past the TB so the
restriction increase is linear. The SC is also more restricted since it's
drive is fixed. The larger TB should benefit the SC.

They do look cool. I'd love to see a back to back dyno of one versus the
stock piece.

Mark,
I am definitely interested, but I need to ck the SC bypass to see how much I
can rebore the inlet. It is IIRC 63mm now and the photo's I have indicate a
pretty good increase in size is possible.
Anyone in the market for a 1.8 TB rebored to 57mm?
