I need them bad. I took a gamble and lost today. I tried to =
upgrade to the GM DIS coils, but Burned out my igniter. I had an extra =
igniter around (as a spare), but now I cant find it. The stock igniter =
got VERY hot with the GM coils on it. Although it drove very nice for =
about 2 minutes. Then I had to push it home in my socks for over a half =
a mile. (I will now always carry shoes with me). I only got on it =
once, and it felt very smooth. I was defiantly misfiring before. I =
figure the 1.8 coils will be adequate, as the DIS ones will be too =
expensive to do with some sort of ignition amp for it. So I figure, =
rather than replace the igniter, I will go ahead and get the 1.8 coils =
with the built in igniter. Thanks guys. =20

If you have two good GM coils, an aftermarket igniter will probably be =
cheaper than a pair of used 1.8 coils and will make as hot a spark as =
the TEC-II. =20

Last week someone posted re one that worked for them but I forgot which =
one it was. Check the archives. But most mfgrs can tell you if theirs =
will drive a GM coil and if they will interface with a Mazda ECU (Link =
is the same).

That was a '96 2.2L Cavalier that Sal referanced for the coils.
Possibly the igniter will work also. He used the Crane DIS-2 to fire
his coils.
