Hi,

I just put a turbo kit on my '99 and now it has a
really bad "idle droop" on decel, to the point of
stalling. I adjusted the idle screw such that it
idles at 900 RPM now (the ECU doesn't have complete
control anymore). This has helped to keep it from
completely stalling out, but the RPMs still drop to
below 400 until the car comes to a complete stop.

This only happens when on decel after boost. If
I downshift on decel to keep the RPMs up for a
few seconds, the idle droop won't happen at all.

I'm convinced this is the same idle droop most
99's experience, but just exacerbated because of
the turbo. I tempted to try disconnecting the
speed sensor just to see what happens.

Anyone else have this problem on a 99 after
installing a turbo?

TIA,
-Mike

Mike, what turbo did you install? My 99 FMII is controlled by the stock =
ecu off boost, no change whatsoever in idle characteristics. I have the =
famous idle droop only until the engine is warmed, then rock steady. No =
change before or after turbo.

I had this problem shortly after my FMI turbo install on a '97. It turned
out that one of the connections on the tubing from the intake manifold was
loose. It was hard to notice unless you looked for it. The pipes are so
smooth, the ring connectors allowed them to slip because the material used
at the joints haven't had enough time to heat up and 'gel' to the tubing.
Hope this helps.
