I don't understand, why would anyone want one of these when the plugin
units are cheap and work just fine for emergency use?
IMHO the portable compressors are close to worthless for track/autocross
use as it takes quite awhile to add just a few pounds of air where an air
tank makes it almost instantaneous.
Now I have to admit I have a plugin compressor that has lived in the trunk
of the wife's car for the last five years and it has never been used.

This might be a big deal if you were driving something like a
Corvette, or a Viper with big wheels, or maybe if you were trying to
air up a tow vehicle. But my 12v compressor will add the few pounds
necessary in less than a minute, which I find quite adequate.
A 12v compressor is also quite a bit smaller than an air tank, which
is a big deal when you're trying to fit all of the track equipment
into a Miata trunk. :)
