Mail From: dave.reynolds (Dave Reynolds)
Picked up the MX-5 Sat morning. Unfortunately, didn't get much time to
drive it over the weekend. I did manage to have a good look through it,
and check the fluid levels, tyre pressures etc, and tune in the radio.
Came with an owner's manual (in English), and what looks like an
original tool kit. Looks like the original owner here may have been an
enthusiast - just the way it's been looked after, and going to the
trouble to get an owner's manual.
Took it for a little blast on some back roads (behind the airport for
anyone who knows ChCh) Sunday afternoon (a bit cool, but OK with top
down and heater on), and that was FUN! Even keeping within the speed
limits, it was still a helluva lot of fun. I can see now why so many
people like them. It just puts such a big grin on your face. And I'm
relearning how to heel and toe (not much call for that in an automatic
Vectra). Had to drive it to work this morning - took the long way. Tis
a long time to wait till 5pm when I can drive it home!

1990, imported from Japan in 2001 with 28000km on the clock, first owner
had it until mid 2005 and 60000km, second owner bought it in sept 2005
from a car yard, and now I've got it with 69000km. It's red, immaculate
inside, engine bay really clean (still clean from car yard grooming I
suspect), good paint job (slightly faded on bumpers), good hood (apart
from broken zip - but I am prepared to put up with that). First
convertible I've owned. I've had 4 Minis, 2 Escorts, 2 BMWs and
currently a Holden (nee Opel/Vauxhall) Vectra. The Minis were great fun
too.

Congratulations, and welcome to the addiction. :) I presume your Minis were made by Leyland, not BMW?

Welcome to the addiction! You will find longer and twistier ways to get to
the store. Sometimes you may find the picking up a liter of milk involves a
2-hour ride...
And then there's the aching grin muscles. Enjoy!
