Mail From: dscott1 (Don Scott)
On a 100 mile journey at speeds over 60 mph in my '91 Miata
with the fibreglas hardtop in place and windows up, I
experienced considerable wind noise. This is something new.
It seems to be coming from around the windshield rather
than between the top and the windshield surround. (At least
that is what I could sense using my hand to feel for air
flow.)
Anyone out there had similar experience, and if so, is
there a fix for this? The noise is loud enough to make
travelling unpleasant.
Thanks!

Have you had the windshield replaced but someone who didn't do a good
job sealing it?

This happened on one of mine. It got louder whenever I went over 80. I
tried to tighten the latches, but they were already at the end of their
travel. I made a shim for the latch out of a business card, and that fixed
it. I love fixing stuff at a gas station!
It seems like there was something a while back (forum?) about moving the
striker plates outward a little to force the latches to pull the center of
the top down.
Also make sure that the little plastic nubs that fit into the dimples aren't
broken. They are cheap to replace.
