I have a 1997 STO, it's Midnight Blue Mica. Where would I go to buy the "fingernail polish" bottles of touch-up paint? I've seen touch-up paint online, but I can't tell if it's spray paint or the kind that I'm looking for. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Well a Mazda dealer will have it for nearly the same cost as a FLAPS or other cheap way of getting paint. Interestingly for
my color the dealer told me there WAS no spray, only the touch-up.
But I have to say the official Mazda paint they sold me is quite a ways off from my paint color and looks like hell, so I'd
have been just as good saving a buck and getting cheaper stuff. But maybe you'll have better luck :/
The fingernail polish bottles are the "little" ones. Sprays usually have more ounces. So if it's like an ounce or so, it's
probably a touch-up bottle.

You can either go to www.miatamania.com and order a little touch up bottle
($4.95 if memory serves), or hope that your local Mazda dealer has your
color in stock. I bought some touch up paint from Moss Motors (the URL
listed above) and the bottles were in fact as you wanted. I don't think
they even sell spray cans.

Eh, they went up; 5.25 :P
But consider that Mazda will order you a bottle if you ask for it and they don't have it, and you won't have to pay
shipping. Whether you order from a dealer or Moss you'll still have to wait. JMHO.
I just tried seeing what shipping would be and Moss requires at least $10 in purchases to complete a transaction. Get two
;)

With all the colors now available from Sanford I would just use a Sharpie if
it is just for a small fill. For larger areas the touch up paint might be
better.

***Maybe, but touch-up paint helps prevent rust -- Sharpie pens don't (at
least, not that I know of). :)

It is just one of the trade offs in life. Sharpie is cheaper than paint.
Must now spend more time waxing the car.
With that in mind I would go with the paint. My track record on waxing
is...O.K. I sometimes spring for the spray on type at the car wash.

***What does a Sharpie cost? About two bucks? Why not splurge and go for
the $5 little bottle of paint. ;) Speaking of Sharpie pens . . . my
racecar is white with black (very LARGE) numbers on the doors and hood.
Sometimes I get rock chips on the car, and you can see little bits of white
showing through the black numbers. I was thinking of 'touching up' the
numbers with a black Sharpie pen. Does anyone know if this will damage the
paint? Taking off and even applying numbers is a hassle for me, but I'll
replace the numbers instead if you all think the Sharpie will damage the
paint below.
