Ah yes but we have Ranches (actually they are called Stations here) that are
bigger than the State of Texas. No, I'm not kidding.

Kenneth, I think you missed Jerry's point...

Being an American only three generations removed from Scotland, I have a
deep respect for the distinction between the countries of Scotland and
England but....

In the land of the free and the home of the brave where liberal yahoos feel
it's more important to cover minority (and minor) participants in our
history in deferrence to the leaders that forged our country (because they
were not perfect... Washington, Jefferson, etc.).... and worry we might
hurt a child's psyche if we make them recite the pledge of allegiance or
acknowledge the importance of God in our countries history...

I hope you can accept that the educational establishment early on equates
United Kindom and Great Britain. That is what we are taught. We STILL
appreciate the contribution of ALL individuals from allied countries but...
do YOU know as much about American history and geography?? As (I think)
Jerry intimated, some of us are rankled that no distinction is made between
a Texan or a Buckeye or a .... AND, most of our states are larger than
many countries in Europe.

AND yes, "I" know about the IRA bombings... and the Palestinian bombings....
AND that's, I guess, why Id expect more help from the UK (and would Israel
if they weren't so occupied) than some of those other left leaning European
countries that don't seem to get it....

This I'll Defend (Do you know my clan?)

Looks like we a working our way into a big bru ha on this subject. Seems
like it may be a good time to calm down, go for Miata drive or something.
Lets talk Miata. We all love our particular homelands, we should all be
working for the mutual betterment of everyone. I believe enough has been
said on this subject on the MIATA net.

Sounds like a winner to me. If it goes on too much longer, I may have to
solicit the list for contributions to the Scot Zediker Replacement Delete

I didn't know we HAD a national language. I thought that's what much of the
problem is.

I know this is days late to jump in on this war thing...but in the only war
I ever fought, Vietnam, there were huge numbers of Australian troops near
Phan Rang and Phan Thiet and fierce Koreans near Qui Nhon. The Aussies drove
their RHD Land Rovers on "our" side of the road and inspired many GIs who
came in contact with them. The ROK Koreans were incredibly brave fighters
who took on the worst of assignments thus breaking down the "ignorance
barriers" and earning the respect of thousands of Americans. I am sure the
same goes on today among the alliance of nations contributing troops to this
ugly conflict.
