Mail From: Jon Etkins" <eccles (Jon Etkins)

So today a letter arrived from Australia, advising me that I was caught
on film while we were vacationing in Oz in September. Seems that
Victoria Police's finest photographic detection equipment (another fine
product of Bastards Incorporated) recorded me in the act of committing
the heinous crime of travelling at 89km/h in an 80km/h zone on the
Maltby bypass at 10:35am on September 17th 2001.

The ironic thing is that that is exactly the speed I thought I was
doing - I had just forgotten that the Victorian government's revenue
collection department will stick you with a fine for anything over
5km/h over, instead of the 10mph leeway that is the norm over here.

The interesting thing is that the letter comes from some mob called
Civic Compliance Victoria. Has the Victorian government outsourced
revenue collection as well, now?!?

Oh well, c'est la vie. I wonder if they'll sic Interpol on me if I
file their nice letter in my nice rubbish bin, or if they'll just put
my name on the Most Wanted list so I find myself dragged off in chains
next time I visit?

Cheers,
Jon Etkins
international criminal

Let's see - I know that Gary Fischman brought home a souveneir ticket from
Germany in a similar manner.

I was with Axel Windmueller when he was pulled over for speeding in the US.
While driving a Canadian car. With a German driver's licence. And a
Brazilian passport.

He didn't pay the ticket. Axel is a wanted man in the state of New Yawk.

Keith

Joe, you deserved it because you put your own licence number
on your home made licence plates, Put Mayor Webb's number
on your plates, When the Mayor gets his ticket with your picture
in the mail won't he be superised to find that he smokes a pipe?

And you will be able to start a new profession, making licence
plates for the state.

I got one in the Elise last time I visited Heidelberg (they have cameras
everywhere). I almost can't wait to get my first photo! About 85 in a 70
zone, where almost everyone speeds anyway.

Frank.

Sorry Keith, not quite right!

It was a Japanese Car. With Canadian plates. With a Brazilian driver's
licence. And a
German passport.

On my last visits to the US nobody put me in chains at the immigration. :)

Shouldn't be too expensive. But unless you claim you were not
driving, you'll never see the photo.

Probably 40 DM, counting my speedo said 85 Km and they usually take a few
off for error. I'll have my lawyer ask for a photo if I ever get the ticket.

>It was a Japanese Car. With Canadian plates. With a Brazilian driver's

I got caught in Indiana, 85 on a 55 (weekday midnight, almost empty
Autobahn-like freeway, passed an unmarked that was doing about 70), with
Oklahoma plates and a Colorado license. He looked at me strange, too.
Gulf war time, showed the military ID, let me off -- ain't patriotism great!

All you military members, keep those ID cards handy in this time of war, it
can help. Caution: this doesn't apply near military bases where they hate
you and will ticket you just because they know they can easily force you to
pay.

Frank.

Right, got that backwards. How could I have been confused? :)
