How hard is it to replace a Miata door? Upon simple observation, I can't
really tell what the heck I am supposed to do to get the old door off and a
replacement on. Any tips? Advice? I still will have to paint the new
door, but wanted to get the research started now with winter coming on.
Also, while I am at it -- how hard is it to replace the front left quarter
panel? Thanks in advance,

Hi Bonni,

Doors are 4 bolts & the slider-pin thingie (that's VERY technical
talk!). The pin needs to be grabbed by a pair of pliers & pulled up to
release. It sure helps to have extra hands to do the job, but I pulled
it off with a floor jack underneath the door once with ok success.

Dunno about the door, but IIRC the the front fenders are bolted onto the car,
so nothing special except the fact that you'll need to remove the front
bumper cover (6 bolts under the hood, two on each side inside the wheel well -
those are connected to the fenders, and those brackets on the sides under the car
- all are 10mm bolts if memory serves) , after that you have about 4 or 5
bolts (again 10mm) under the hood on the top of the fender, and a bolt or two on
the bottom next to the door, I think it should be easy to get when the door is
open and you can always remove the fender liner for better access, that's
easy.

Hope this helps,

Moti and the Blackbird.

Four bolts and a pin. Pretty simple.

That's as techno as I could get too, upon first observation. I was, also,
thinking of putting a jack up under the door so as not to bend anything.
Hmmm . . . this will be fun. Maybe I should take pics and actually post
something that might actually turn out to be useful?

I cannot thank you all enough for your advice thus far - DON'T STOP!!! =D
