I have a 1995 Miata (C package). Had the 60K service. I have been using
Mobil 1 in the engine and Red line in the Tran for three years. The dealer
replaced all fluids with standard oil. After three hours on the freeway I
heard lifter noise. The next day I had all the fluids replaced with
synthetics and requested a smog certificate. Now I have a problem. Every
pstime I go through the gears from dead stop there is an 'LP" gas like
odor. Most noticeable is 1st to 2nd & 2nd to 3rd. After the going to the
next gear it as though plume of gas comes in. The smell is gone once
steady speed is attained. My wife thinks its coming through the vents.

The garage mechanics are able to smell the same order, but are unable
to find anything. They say there are no exhaust leaks and that every thing
is working.

Any suggestions, my wife won't get back in the car. Dick
