So, last weekend I was driving down to midland from lubbock, and I drove
through about 20-30miles of sandstorm. (lots of farming out here+70mph
wind=sandstorm). Its been nasty this week, so I didn't wash until today,
now I have an issue. It appears my car has been sandblasted. The front lip
which was painted via Krylon fusion and a Krylon clear coat its now a matte
black. (was a high gloss, near perfect match for OE brilliant black). The
front bumper and the mirrors (front sides ) are all a little dull, and foggy
looking...

So, looks like the front lip will need to be resprayed, which is okay, since
that costs ~20.00 (but it'll have to wait a few months)....now for the rest
of the car? Polisher? cleaner wax? This frustrates the heck outta me. I
had a deep, beautiful shine before this trip, and now my car looks, well,
not happy.

Regarding poor Ben Upton, sandblasted in Texas...

1. Consider using the Meguiar system, starting with their paint
cleaners. I use their wash, polish and wax products, and love them.

meguiars.com

2. Since you're in Texas, I'd go after the former governor. He seems to
be responsible for a lot of problems involving sand...

I don't know if thatwas a typo.. but where would you possibly get your car painted for $20?? I'd be VERY afraid of a 20 dollar paint job .. heck, I'd even run away from a 200 dollar paint job.

My error - I just realized that you asked about just getting the front lip repainted. Yeah, that'll cost you about 20 bucks.. but the front bumper and mirrors will likely need to be repainted, they are 'foggy' as a result of thousands of tiny chips in the paint. The bumper and mirrors (and hood/fenders if necessary) will need to be sanded, primed, sanded and repainted. You should probably check with your car insurance, because that may end up costing you a pretty penny if you were to pay for it.

Thank you much, I used that system on my 99, worked very well. Guess I'll
be spending some time, if it works good, if not, guess I'll call the
insurance company. sad thing is, I just had the front end replaced a few
months ago. (big truck+reverse=squished miata)

Thanks guys for the responses. I know George Jr. , and I think I may have
to tell him what I think of his sand.

Thanks again
Ben
