The Internet Dictionary, here,...
netlingo.com/lookup.cfm?term=YMMV
...defines YMMV as Your Mileage May Vary, but I don't
think that applies here. And OTM isn't listed,
obviously, since OTM seems to be list specific. What
does YMMV mean?
Larry Alstare (sp?) once pointed me to another site
with a list of internet abbreviations, but I forget it
now.

It's Alster :)
And I don't remember where that site was anymore
YMMV is Your Mileage May Vary but it's not usually used in the literal sense
of meaning actually mileage.
I'm sure OTM is list specific since I doubt a Volvo list would be concerned
with Other Than Miata

Thank you, Larry. That makes sense. I normally want
to spell it as 'Alstair'. But, this time I knew that
wasn't right. I'll have to make a note. More often
than not I'm referring to some good info I got in one
of your posts.

I have seen OTM used several other places. One that sticks out in my mind
was a description of Hispanics - Other Than Mexican - on a website that I
was on.

Don't forget MSV - Miata Support Vehicle. Probably another list-specific
acronym.

Interesting that abbreviations came up.
I'm reading a book by John O'Donohue called Anam Cara and he makes the
following point about language:
"The sense of silence and darkness behind the words in more ancient
culture, is absent in the modern use of language. Language is full of
acronyms: nowadays we are impatient of words that carry with them
histories and associations......when you steal a people's language, you
leave their soul bewildered."
Best Regards
David Sosna (bewildered by all the abbreviations and acronyms used in
e-mails and disturbed that I need to go to a webpage to look them up so
that I can understand what's being said)

Don't feel bad, Neil. I went a year or so thinking OTM meant "other
transportation means." Context had given me the basic sense, but I was still
wrong on every word.
