I bought a 1991 with a JRSC (along with headers and full JR exhaust
including cat) for my wife. The car has some black soot on the tailpipe, the
idle gets a little low sometimes (to the point it stalls - probably just old
plug wires), and it doesn't feel like I am getting the full 60 hp increase
(compared to my other 1991 that is NA). Is there a place I can get Jackson
Racing documentation (scanned manuals, etc) on how to service it and tune it
up to get it working 100%. We just got back from a 19hr trip to pick up the
car and I really haven't started doing any research on it yet. I know that
the car has an MSD boost control and I have not adjusted it yet (it seems
like it is not adjusted properly - the 1st four leds light up all at one
time and then start backing down - you never see all 6 light). Also, what
octane gas do you guys run in your JRSC cars? Thanks for the help! (and
thanks for understanding that I have no idea what I am doing <G>)

A 1.6 6 psi JRSC will usually pull 120 rwhp on a dyno - a strong one that's
had a lot of work (and 8 psi) will make 140. A stock 1991 will get about
90. So a 30 hp gain is more what you should be expecting...

Most 1.6 6psi JRSC dont dyno over 130 rwhp. I should feel like a good kick
in the pants.
1) check your timing. If the motor will tolerate it a bump up to 14 degrees
will make a difference.
2) New plugs, plug wires. My JRSC liked the Bosch Platinum Plus 4's.
3) I personally liked the J&S over the MSD..but Check with Scott at Roadster
Performace for MSD mods that seem to work very well.
4) Air/fuel ratio meter...are you running rich/lean may need simple AFPR
adjustments...may need high flow fuel pump..works wonders at 8psi.
5) Check out the miata net forum...tons of information on FI.
