Mine was a BRG MGB. In grad school. First car I ever tuned the dual carbs,
replaced the disks, rewired the electrical, put the battery in the trunk. I
was only a little more difficult than typical american car back then ...
LOL. I had the body replaced at a local Tech college as a class project.
Stored it for a long time in a friends barn then finally sold it to a
mechanic who got it up and running pretty fast. Ingrid

Red 70 1/2 MGB on factory steels (split rear bumper and wood steering/shift
knob). Drove it all winter in Manitoba. You learn very quick at -25?c why
cars don't have hydraulic dampers any more. My best story is the guy that
couldn't start his 360 Duster hot rod in front of my place one winter day.
He asked me for a boost, but was already dismissing me because of my
'little' car. I stopped and started rooting behind my seat. He said I
didn't have too get booster cables, as he already had some. I said I knew
that, I was just getting to my batteries. I still had the dual 6 volts.
Mr. Hot Rod was very surprised at how much power my car could supply! That
old 360 jumped to life.

I had a Triumph Spitfire, does that count?
Easy to work on and I never had a balance problem with the 2 SUs even
tho I tried my hardest to mess them up.

My first car was a '76 Midget. 'Butterscotch' in color, tan interior and
'Special' stripes. Honestly, not a very good car for a first car, although
it did teach me ALOT about working on them!
Actually, I met my wife in that car. Good memories are more numerous than
the bad memories in that car, even with the memory of a school bus crunching
the right rear fender after replacing clutch and tranny... : (

About 35 years ago, I had an Austin-Healey Sprite. On any given morning,
when I went out to get in it, I never knew whether it was going to start
or not.

I'm getting all nostalgic to hear my old B cranking, and cranking, and
cranking..... Maybe I should pull the fuel relay on my Miata and relive it.
<grin> But, my battery wouldn't last.

About 35 years ago, I had an Austin-Healey Sprite. On any given morning,
when I went out to get in it, I never knew whether it was going to start or
not.

Ingrid

I had a 59 Bugeye Sprite, and a 100-6. The sprite went about 3 years ago to
help on a downpayment for a house. The 100-6 went about 4 months ago. Over
the years though about 4 or 5 Spridgets went in and out of my parents
garage, mostly junk cars to get parts from then sold the rest off. I
remember once about 15 or so years ago my dad had 3 Healeys in the garage
and 2 in the driveway and 1 in the back yard and 6 more in the un attached
garage. Mostly non running cars or cars that he bought to sell knowing they
had been a good deal.

How about a '66 Datsun 1600 roadster? Bought it as a running project, and
spent more time rebuilding it than driving it, but it was a hoot. I sold it
when I thought I was going to be posted overseas...and kicked myself for a
whole year when I ended up in California instead. I contemplated finding
another one rather than looking for a Miata, but I already have two hanger
queens taking up garage space, and needed something to stand 80+ miles per
day.

I nearly bought a Midget as my first (self-owned) car.
Luckily I drove an AlfaSud before I parted with my money.
