Was pulled off car at 28,000 miles (another one came with the supercharge that was installed). It's listed on ebay right now - item #597901411 . This is your chance to pick up a cheap spare in good condition.

Cheap spare? If it's on eBay, it sounds like it's our chance to pay more
for it than anyone else in the world is willing to pay.

It's got a "buy it now" for only $50. I bought one three months ago with
100k on it for $65 from a junk yard. It sounds like this is about the
cheapest one you could find anywhere.

I recently picked up an RX-7 AFM for $35, previous owner said it worked
fine. Assuming it does work, it should provide a nice HP bump above 6K rpm-
which I tend to do a lot of when am at the track.
fingers crossed...

These AFM's are jumping in price drastically. Two years ago I got a Miata
AFM and an '87 RX7 AFM for $35 apiece at Mazda Toyota Auto Recyclers. I just
got off the phone with them and they now want $75 apiece for them!
And they want $200 a pair for black cloth seats. Used to be they would sell
them alone for $50 apiece, now you can only buy the pair at the higher
price. Apparently a lot of people are retro-fitting their Alfa's and
Triumphs with them because they're comfy, they fit incredibly well and they
can wire in the head rest speakers.
I guess having a Miata isn't all that cheap any more.

Yeah, I called a couple of the junk yards(auto recyclers- pardon me!) and
they quoted me $85 and $75.
I laughed at them...

Isn't all that cheap?? Compared to what?? Try finding a AFM for a LT1 Trans
Am under $300. Or a set of seats under $300.
Check on a water pump---Miata--$30 Trans Am--$350
Then check into aftermarket parts.
Miata are cheap to own, dont let anyone fool you.

Why would anyone pay $400 for an AFM that can be found at any mazda
recycler? I still refuse to pay $75 when I can pick one up for $25-35, or
even $50. Heck, you can buy a brand new 1.6 motor for ~1k!

John, $75 isn't cheap, especially when the same salvage companies used to
sell them for $25 a few years ago. Anyways, I never said that Miata's were
expensive to own, I inferred that the salvage companies are trying to rip us
off. You wanna know how much they wanted for some caliper brackets, or how
about some seat belt latches?
Thanks for emailing me and Brad twice by the way - yunno we just don't get
enough email these days...

Not me.. but anyone who wants one new would have to.

My AFM died a few months ago and it took me quite a while to find one
cheap.. granted, eventually I bought one for $25 but I have two Miatas
so I wasn't in any hurry. If it had been my only car (as it was a few
