What is the forest fire situation in the US at the moment? We aren't getting
much information here except that a contingent of Auzzie fire-fighters left
a couple of days ago to try to help. I'm assuming that it's as bad as our
fires were over the Christmas period last year. I have to admit I haven't
been watching much CNN, my usual source of US news.

Jeff,

To keep up-to-date on what's happening, try
earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/natural_hazards_v2.php3?topic=fire.
It is a really cool (pun intended) site. The Oregon pictures were updated
today.

Thanks Paul, interesting site, a little out of date in regard to the current
flood situation in Europe, there doesn't seem to be any mention of Prague
and the other cities that are being devastated right now.
Looks like there hasn't been a great deal of property damage (homes etc.)
which is reassuring.
